Well- I did it. I switched to Blogspot. I first attempted to copy all of my xanga entries to blogspot- but I finally decided that it was not worth the effort- and I cannot relive the past. Xanga will always be a part of me. so here's to a new blogging era!

Tomorrow my parents are driving to Saskatchewan for my mom's cousin's funeral. She lived in Calgary and just died last Wednesday. It hit my really hard. She was really cool. She had a hard life, and suffered from some pretty crappy stuf but. she died of natural causes. Unfortunately I won't be going to the funeral. It was incredible however how last Wednesday unfolded:

Just before Christmas my mom's cousing Merle had fallen and hurt her shoulder. She didn't think much of it, however later that week she finally went into the doctor after some pain and discovered that- her shoulder was dislocated. My mom spent the entire day on Thursday with her at the hospital. My mom got to spent a lot of time with her. Although she hasn't been actively involeved in church, my mom believes that she knows Jesus and she went to heaven. Anyways, she had left a message that next Wednesday morning and my mom suddenly felt called to pray for her with me. She also sent e-mails to others to pray. It was strange- I remember praying for her healing ( in more way than one) and for her to know Jesus and for God's will to be done. It was really special to pray for her with my mom. My mom came home that night and told me she had passed away. It helps my put into perspective that what God's will is, is sometimes totally different than what we expect. God brought her healing in a totally different way. She was released from all of the 'stuff' of life.

Even though I didn't get to know her as well as I woudl have liked, I am thankful she was in my life and I will miss her.

That's all for now.

Weekly Anecdotes

 It's snowing. It's winter. It's Christmas. I love it.

My mom bought some really cheap mickey mouse paper cups the other day. She thought they would be great for the bathroom. I laughed. I laugh everytime I go into the bathroom now. I haven't used one yet.

There is a famous person (well, Calgary famous) who's children go to my school. I can't tell you who, otherwise stalkers could figure what school I teach at. Anways, 'Esther's' children are in elementary. I teach middle school . On Wednesday was the Middle School's pyjama day. I wore moose pajamas. The first time I actually get to meet Esther... I am in my pajamas.

I helped with operation Chrsitmas Child on Wednesday. We checked shoeboxes. It is amazing how much stuff you have to take out and what really wierd stuff people pack, like clothes pins. It's pratical once you think about it, but who thinks about that? I was most excited to see the boxes with recorders, harmonicas and tambourines. It made me proud. I only wish I could give a piano. Someone packed a snow globe in their's. Unfortunately it burst and the box got all wet.

I usually have a question of the day for my grade six music class. Thursday was no exception. The question was 'what is your favourite thing to do when you are bored?' I thought my grade six kids were innocent.

Answers included:

- Go play in restricted areas with my friends

- Play in the houses that are being built

- Shoot magpies x3

This week was report card week. I had to writ eup almost 50 comments. I have been giving family members comments on their progress as well. Here it goes (names have been changed):

Tori is a very quick learner. She has a good ear for music. She manages to do well overall; however, her work-ethic is severely lacking. She is easily distracted in class and thus time is often wasted. Currently we are still working to catch Tori up from some missed classes two weeks ago. She needs to take ownership for her work.

David is an earnest and enthusiastic student. However, David's greatiest challenge seems to be miantianing self-discipline. He is in need of constant external prodding to remain focused. We would like to see David take initiative to improve in this area.

Kelly is an exemplary student. She is a very talented musician and is therefore an asset to the class. Kelly also exhibits a gentle demeanor and strong leadership skills. Keep up the great work!

Currently the Christmas tune stuck in my head is Ricky Martin:

Ay Ay Ay it's Christmas and I don't have a gift for you.

Ay Ay Ay it's Christmas and I don't know what to do.

That's all.

Sunday Anecdotes

1. I paid a hefty fine today. This was not however for any criminal offense. It was my  library fine. It was a total of $17.70. The lady didn't even bat an eye. Hopefully it will go towards helping children read.

2. On Friday the grade six class was discussing warm and cool colors. The high school music teacher came in and one of the teachers asked him if he knew of any warm colors. The high school music teacher responded, "Well, sometimes I sit on my brother and he's white..." We all stood there. We didn't know what to say. Then we laughed. Awkwardly. It was really random. It made my day.

3. I register for Spring classes on Tuesday.

4. I took Tracy driving. Standard. In sick ruch hour traffic. The furthest she's ever driven in my car. She did fantastic!  Starting and stopping all the time in a standard sucks. Tricky. Calgarians aren't very good drivers. It's a few who are the exception. The only really stressful moment was when we got to a four-way stop in the neighbourhood she stalled. And unfortunately my car then died. It wouldn't start again. It was a very busy stop. Fortunately the people behind us were very gracious and patient. It finally started again. After 4-5 tries. I drove home.

5. John 10:10 "God came that we might have life, and have it to the full."

God intended that this full life be in heaven and here on earth. Right now! It comes down to relationship. We have to seek after God and make him the focus of our lives. He wants to give us full life. We are intended to have full life.
